Car History

The car on offer is a very rare original factory produced right-hand drive version (Giulia 1600 Spider), of which only 404 were made.

The 101 Series Alfa Romeo Giulia Spider evolved from the earlier Pininfarina designed Giulietta; the main change was the introduction of the larger 1570 cc twin cam power plant which required the bonnet to be changed to accommodate the slightly higher engine. Hence the air intake on the bonnet to the 101 model.

This car was manufactured on the 27th of December 1963 and first registration on the 10st of December 1965. All Alfa Romeo Giulia 1600 spider RHD where produced in 1963 and 1964 and due to the import duty into the UK these cars where more expensive than the Jaguar E Type at that time.

During the nut and bolt restoration the car was converted to the Veloce specifications which entailed fitting different engine mountings to increase the angle of the engine to allow the steering column to fit under the twin Weber carburettors. In order to compensate for the now steeper slant of the engine a new sump and oil pick up had to be fitted as well.

Alfa Romeo never produced the RHD version in the Veloce specifications, which makes this car even more desirable, besides the conversion to the Veloce specification a high lift cam was fitted to the engine as well as an electric fuel pump.

Presented here in Dutch Blue with red leather seats and a new black mohair hood it will turn heads where ever you go, as well as being an absolute joy to drive.
