Car History
The Ford Escort MK1 was first sold at the end of 1967 in Ireland and the UK and was officially introduced in January 1968 at the Brussels motor show.
As the replacement to the Ford Anglia the Escort quickly became one of the most iconic cars of the era.
Over the eight years of production, the Escort was offered with an array of engines ranging from the 0.9L crossflow over the 1.6L Lotus- Ford Twin Cam up to the 2.0L Pinto engine.
The car on offer here is fitted with a 1.1L crossflow engine and was first registered in Germany on the 14th of May 1969 but it is actually a 1968 model.
We have records showing that the Escort had 4 previous keepers.
The first owner had the car from new until 1990 and kept records of all the work that was done to the car on a Ford Data Card. The Records starting at 41 Km up to 51,070 Km in September 1987.
The second owner was the Garage that actually sold the car new and carried out all the service over the years.
The third owner, another Ford garage, kept records again of all the works done which includes shock absorbers, exhaust, brakes and more up to 2015 when the car changed ownership again to one of the mechanics of the Ford garage.
The last three owners only drove a combined distance of 8,000 Km with the car which now shows just a few km shy of 60,000 km.
It is truly a remarkable vehicle that was kept in pristine condition by the previous owners. The car would make a fantastic addition to any collection.
