Car History
The Ferrari 308 GTB and targa topped GTS were manufactured by Ferrari from 1975 to 1985 with a mid-mounted V8 engine. The two-seater sports cars replaced the Dino 246 GT and GTS.
The 308 has a tube frame with separate body and shared much of its mechanical componence with its predecessor. The engine used in the 308 is a V8 of a 90-degree configuration, with two belt-driven overhead camshafts. All 308 models used a fully synchromesh 5-speed “dog-leg” manual gearbox and a clutch-type limited slip differential.
The 308’s body was designed by Pininfarina’s Leonardo Fioravanti, who had been responsible for some of Ferrari’s most iconic cars such as the Daytona and the Dino. The 308 GTS models featured a removable roof panel which could be stowed in a vinyl cover behind the seats when not in use.
The 308 GTS on offer here was built for Mr. Philip E. Pitzer and delivered to him in the US in 1978.
In 2011 the car was reimported into Europe by a collector but was never registered in Europe until now.
The car just received a full service including new timing belts and two new electronic ignition systems.
