1963 Mercedes-Benz 190 SL (W121) – Factory Right-Hand Drive
One of only 562 Factory RHD Examples Produced
Pristine Classics are delighted to offer this exceptionally rare 1963 Mercedes-Benz 190 SL (W121) in original factory right-hand-drive specification.
The Mercedes-Benz 190 SL is widely regarded as one of the most elegant sports cars of the 1950s and early 1960s. Styled alongside the legendary 300 SL Gullwing, it combines timeless design, superb engineering and effortless touring ability. Today, the 190 SL is recognised worldwide as one of Mercedes-Benz’s most desirable collector’s cars.
This example is one of only 562 factory-built right-hand-drive cars produced by Mercedes-Benz and, according to the original Mercedes-Benz Data Card, was built in April 1963, making it one of the final 190 SLs manufactured before production came to an end.
Presented in an attractive colour combination with a beautiful red leather interior, the car has clearly been well cared for throughout its life.
The bodywork is in very good condition with no visible signs of corrosion. The car was repainted some years ago and the paintwork continues to present exceptionally well with an excellent finish and deep shine.
The red leather interior is equally impressive and remains in very good condition, providing a wonderful contrast to the exterior.
The chrome work is in very good order throughout and complements the elegant styling of the car.
Mechanically, the Mercedes performs exactly as it should. The engine starts easily, runs smoothly and pulls well, while the original 4-speed manual gearbox changes cleanly through all gears, making the car a genuine pleasure to drive.
The original soft top is present. During a previous refurbishment, the rear timber support was inadvertently omitted during reassembly. We are currently having this professionally corrected so that the hood will be supplied in proper working order.
Whether as a valuable addition to an established Mercedes-Benz collection or as a classic grand touring car to be enjoyed on the road, this represents an outstanding opportunity to acquire one of the rarest and most desirable variants of the iconic 190 SL.
