1969 Ford Escort MK1 LHD

The Ford Escort MK1 was first sold at the end of 1967 in Ireland and the UK and was officially introduced to the public in January 1968 at the Brussels Motor Show. Developed as the successor to the Ford Anglia, the Escort quickly became one of the most iconic and best-loved cars of its era.

Over its eight years of production, the Escort was offered with a wide range of engines, from the 0.9L Crossflow through to the legendary 1.6L Lotus Twin Cam and the 2.0L Pinto.

The example we are pleased to offer here is fitted with the 1.1L Crossflow engine and was first registered on the 14th of May 1969, although the car itself is a 1968 model.

This left-hand-drive Escort has had just four previous keepers, all of whom maintained the car to an exceptional standard:

The first owner kept the car from new until 1990 and maintained meticulous service records on an original Ford Data Card, covering mileage from 41 km up to 51,070 km in September 1987.

The second owner was the Ford garage that originally sold the car and continued to carry out servicing.

The third owner, another Ford garage, kept detailed records of all subsequent work including shock absorbers, exhaust, brakes and more, right up to 2015.

The fourth owner, before the car was exported to Ireland, was a mechanic from that same garage.

The last and current owner only used the car on special, dry weather, occasions and kept the car always garaged.

Since 1897, the last few owners have covered a combined distance of just over 8,000 km, with the car which is now showing just over 60,000 km in total.

This is truly a remarkable example of the iconic MK1 Escort, preserved in pristine condition thanks to careful and knowledgeable ownership throughout its life. It would make a superb addition to any serious classic car collection.
